The Associate Sourcing Specialist position is the first level of the sourcing classification hierarchy. Employees in the Associate Sourcing Specialist position solve problems with general supervision. The Associate Sourcing Specialist is expected to develop the skills and ability to work with greater independence. An Associate Sourcing Specialist has knowledge of fundamental concepts and procedures in understanding business requirements, identifying suppliers, performing advanced analytics, developing sourcing strategies, contracting for products/services, and managing ongoing vendor relationships. The Associate Sourcing Specialist position will reside within our Construction Labor and Services organization supporting sourcing activities for Customer Delivery, Transmission and Vegetation Management. Responsibilities
  • Routine procurement of plan commodities, materials, labor and/or enterprise services.
  • Resolves problems and or discrepancies with billings and shipments.
  • Achieves cost savings through traditional negotiations, and consolidation of purchase & contract requests.
  • Ensures compliance with all laws, regulations, and department and corporate policies and standards.
  • Advanced in development and negotiation of contractual agreements with suppliers that meet business needs, provide cost competitive rates, minimizes risks, and provides competitive advantages.
  • Performs routine activities to support schedules and critical needs.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with suppliers and internal clients.
  • Interfaces with business, enterprise and or Supply Chain management and peers.
  • Basic/Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree OR
    • Associate Degree and 2+ years related work experience OR
    • High School/GED Degree and 4+ years related work experience
    Desired Qualifications
    • Previous procurement experience with Distribution, Transmission, Construction Labor and Services and/or Vegetation Management
    • Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in supply chain management
    • Negotiating skills
    • Business acclamation and understanding of the types of products/services to be sourced
    • Understanding of contractual legal terms and conditions
    • Understanding of business, cybersecurity, financial, legal, and other risks in sourcing products/services
    • Ability to work independently within a team environment
    • Strong multitasks skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Demonstrates good planning skills, problem-solving skills, organizational skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and analytics skills
    • Certified Purchasing Manager
    • Certified Professional in Supply Management
    Working Conditions
    • Virtual Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from a remote location after the onboarding period. However, virtual employees should live within a reasonable commute to the assigned Duke Energy facility.
    • The assigned work location is Charlotte, NC.
    • May be occasionally around construction/maintenance activities
    • May require travel to other internal business locations/facilities
    • May require some travel to vendor locations
