Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Physical Plant and Equipment: Ensure all facility equipment and physical structures are in excellent condition, adhering to safety and operational standards.
  • Mechanical Equipment Management: Manage the operation and maintenance of principal mechanical equipment such as pools, steam rooms, saunas, hot yoga rooms, HVAC systems, and elevators.
  • Supervise Daily Operations: Oversee daily facility operations, including maintenance tasks and facility- side activities to ensure smooth operation.
  • Crisis Management: Act as the primary point of contact for crisis and issue management, ensuring swift resolution and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Vendor and Service Contract Management: Manage MEP vendors and service contracts, ensuring adherence to budget constraints while maintaining high-quality service delivery.
  • Team Management: Supervise maintenance technicians to ensure task lists and general cleaning schedules are adhered to efficiently.
  • Project Coordination: Manage and build project task lists, coordinating with maintenance staff to schedule work orders and ensure timely completion.
  • Emergency Response: Utilize staff, service contracts, and emergency contact lists to rectify urgent repairs promptly and effectively.
  • Safety and Compliance : Ensure all areas of the facility meet safety standards and operate smoothly, conducting regular inspections and implementing necessary improvements.
  • Reporting : Provide comprehensive Daily Activity Reports on mechanical issues and activities to the Chief Engineer
  • Vendor Relationships: Manage relationships with vendors and contractors, ensuring services are delivered according to agreed terms and resolving any issues promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facilities mechanical equipment management.
  • Thorough understanding of building systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc., and ability to read and understand technical plans.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be willing to obtain Certified Pool Operator (CPO, EPA 608 and Certificate of Fitness certifications as required.
  • Must have or work to get a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license and FDNY Fire Guard and Certificate of Fitness certifications
  • Flexible schedule availability including weekends, holidays, and early morning/midday/late evening weekday shifts
