Child Life Specialist (Infusion) at Boston Children's Hospital summary:

The Child Life Specialist in the Infusion department supports pediatric patients by facilitating therapeutic activities that address their psychosocial and developmental needs during healthcare experiences. They collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, supervise volunteers, and contribute to the clinical training of interns. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Child Life or related field, completion of a 600-hour internship, and Child Life Certification within one year of hire.

Position Summary/ Department Summary: Please note that this role is located in Waltham, MA. 20 hours a week. Infusion department/Child Life.




Key Responsibilities:
The Child Life Specialist will be responsible for:

• Participating in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitating adjustment to health care experiences for patients.
• Serving as member of multidisciplinary team.
• Delegating work assignments to volunteers and participating in clinical training of student interns.

Minimum Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.
600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.

Experience: General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‑based knowledge. Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.

Licensure/ Certifications: Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire
