Position Overview:

The Cyber Security Intern will assist with administrative duties supporting the BWXT LTC facilities. The role will be under the direction of the corporate Cyber Security Operations Manager.

On-site in Lynchburg, VA

Your Day to Day as a Cyber Security Intern:

  • Assists with work related to queued work orders received and assigned by the help desk.
  • Assists with creation of cyber security-related process and procedure documentation.
  • Performs basic information security related tasks under supervision of cyber engineers.
  • Supports the other local IT staff with a variety of projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma with current enrollment and completed college coursework in Information Technology.
  • Awareness of the PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, application software and some network troubleshooting.
  • Prior experience or education related to performing risk assessments, developing security plans, and developing Standard Security Configuration Guides or similar technical products.
  • Knowledge of the PC Industry's current and emerging technology trends and direction, as well as a keen interest in computer-based information systems and technology.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to research and understand technical documentation, and an understanding of how to apply various technical resources.
  • Ability to perform tasks such as application installations and upgrades, virus protection and eradication.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information such as security infractions and security incidents.
  • Ability to interact effectively with management, staff and other company personnel, and work independently, and/or as part of a team.
  • Ability to report to work at an assigned office location in Lynchburg, VA. This position does not include a remote work option.
  • Must be able to work part-time year round.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with no dual citizenship.

Pay: $26.52

The starting hourly rate for this position in Virginia (US-VA) is expected to be $26.52 per hour. The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify the hourly rate (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation, or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or applicable department/team performance, and other market factors.
