Job Description

Position Grade: The position level varies from Associate Director to Director, determined by the candidate's background and qualification.

Must Haves: Experience in business development within the small molecule field of CDMO/Pharmaceutical/Biotech companies, familiarity with the CMC process, and general knowledge of API.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities for the company by prospecting pharmaceutical companies seeking CDMO/CRO services.
  • Understand customer needs to ensure accurate, timely, and fairly priced proposals, delivering a memorable customer experience.
  • Act as the voice of the customer to internal partners and continuously build field sales opinions to enhance our value proposition.
  • Manage budget control, revenue, and expense strategies effectively.
  • Enhance the company’s profile and reach, developing strong internal and external relationships to increase lead generation and market share.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate profitable business development and sustainable relationships.
  • Coordinate with multiple departments to ensure customer project execution aligns with contractual agreements.
  • Work with Marketing to develop impactful campaigns and analyze inbound marketing data to drive new business opportunities.
  • Conduct competitor analyses to understand their services, pricing, and positioning, using this information to enhance competitive strategies.
  • Build long-term trusting relationships with customers, ensuring professional and efficient transfers of agreed business that meet profitability expectations.
  • Represent the company at various community and business meetings, organizing market research and collecting customer project information.
  • Utilize CRM software to accurately track and update leads, contacts, opportunities, proposals, and business development activities.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of CMC, cGMP, API, and the drug development process for small molecules.
  • Proven track record in sales with exposure to various sales techniques applicable to biotech and major pharmaceutical clients.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills to effectively convey information to a diverse audience including prospective customers and partners.
  • A commitment to customer satisfaction with a focus on distilling solutions from complex challenges.
  • Strong analytical, synthesis, comprehension, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills (written and oral) with a strong personal connection.
  • High resilience, capable of withstanding pressure and overcoming challenges.
  • Preferred: Bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field. A PhD in organic chemistry is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in business development within the CDMO/CRO industry.
  • Established client network and positive relationships, with knowledge of agreement execution.
  • Exceptional hunting abilities including business acuity, political insight, negotiation skills, decision-making, conflict resolution, and a courageous, positive attitude.
