h5 Job Description Title: Infrastructure Engineer - Japanese Bilingual Location: Torrance, CA, Atlanta, GA or Dallas, TX Salary: $50k~80k/year (DOE) Hours: 8am-5pm Overview: Our client company is seeking a bilingual IT Infrastructure Engineer who is passionate about delivering reliable technical support and driving infrastructure innovation. The role includes working closely with customers to clarify requirements, plan and execute IT projects, maintain systems, and proactively identify improvement opportunities. This position requires strong communication skills in both English and Japanese, as well as hands-on experience with servers, networks, and system administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Participate in meetings to gather customer requirements; plan and quote implementation projects.
- Design, install, and administer servers, network devices, and client devices.
- Independently plan tasks, coordinate schedules with end users, and execute plans under supervisor review.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures.
- Manage change history and Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
- Respond to technical inquiries via email, phone, screen sharing, or on-site visits.
- Proactively communicate with end users and customer executives to identify and resolve minor issues, and propose new technologies.
- Monitor systems to detect and resolve potential problems before they impact operations.
- Coordinate with vendors to obtain pricing for resale products and issue quotes.
- Handle hardware repair requests with vendors.
- Provide support through ticketing systems, phone, and email.
Required Technical Skills: - Dell or other Intel x64 server hardware
- Windows Server and RedHat Linux installation and administration
- Hyper-V or VMware
- LAN (L2 switching, wireless network setup)
- Basic network protocols: DHCP, DNS, SMTP, FTP, SSL
Preferred Technical Skills: - IPSec VPN, static routing, BGP
- ScreenOS, JunOS, Cisco IOS
- Network management protocols (SNMP, WMI)
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Windows Domain administration
- IIS, Apache web server administration
- Messaging/ETL tools (e.g., MQ, Informatica, HULFT)
- Oracle Database, MySQL administration
- Backup and recovery system administration
Soft Skills: - Self-starter with flexibility and strong collaboration skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy, especially during critical operations
- Keen interest in emerging technologies
Education and Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience assembling PCs and configuring managed network switches and firewalls
Language Requirements: - Fluent in English and Japanese
- Strong verbal communication skills in both languages for interaction with customer executives and end users
- Strong written communication skills for documentation using Excel and PowerPoint
Physical Demands: - Frequent use of keyboard and regular travel between customer sites for support and maintenance
- Ability to lift and/or move items up to 49 lbs; group lifting required for heavier equipment
Work Environment: - Occasional travel to supplier or reference sites
- May be required to work rotating shifts, including Saturdays and occasionally Sundays or holidays for technical support
