General Municipal Associate

About the role

We are seeking a motivated  General Municipal Associate to join a busy California practice that advises local governments, public agencies, and developers on regulatory, transactional, and enforcement matters. The role offers broad exposure to litigation, transactional work, and administrative processes that affect public entities.

Key responsibilities:

• Counsel public agencies and quasi-governmental clients on policy, governance, and statutory compliance
• Draft and negotiate development agreements, easements, joint use agreements, and related transactional documents
• Prepare and respond to CEQA documents, environmental notices, and entitlements; coordinate with consultants and agencies
• Represent clients in administrative hearings, regulatory proceedings, and litigation support as assigned
• Research statutory and case law, prepare memos and client advisories, and present at council/board meetings
• Support business development efforts and contribute to team knowledge-sharing initiatives

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the California bar (or eligibility)
• 2+ years of relevant experience for junior–mid level; more for senior-level hire
• Demonstrated experience with CEQA, municipal law, land use, or public transactions preferred
