We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Charleston, South Carolina. In this Contract-to-Permanent position, you will play a key role in managing financial operations, ensuring accuracy in accounting processes, and contributing to long-term organizational goals. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with flexibility for remote work on select days.

Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts payable processes, including coding invoices and reconciling credit card reports.
• Follow up on outstanding student receivables and collaborate with financial aid to resolve payment issues.
• Support month-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Assist in preparing for audits and fiscal year-end processes, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure proper categorization of expenses and revenue.
• Collaborate with administrators to manage and oversee the organization's credit card program.
• Participate in budgeting activities during summer and winter breaks, ensuring readiness for audits.
• Contribute to facility-related financial planning for campus renovations and master planning.
• Offer insights to strengthen accounting practices and improve financial reporting.
• Work closely with leadership to maintain and enhance the organization’s community-focused initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Strong knowledge of journal entries and general ledger processes.

• Familiarity with financial aid and student receivable workflows.

• Proficiency in managing accounts payable and credit card reconciliation.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Experience with financial systems such as Financial Edge or Razor’s Edge is a plus.
